Criteria for Membership
The 100 Black Men of San Antonio, regularly hosts orientation and information gathering sessions for men interested in membership with our organization.
Typically, prospective members should complete a new member application at www.100blackmensa.org/new-membership.html to express interest in becoming a member of the organization.
Attending an orientation and information session will offer the prospective member insight into the purpose and activities of 100 Black Men of the San Antonio and at this session, questions can be voiced.

Membership Types
Active Member A member who is actively involved with the programs of the chapter, serves on one or more committees and regularly attend meetings. |
Supporting Member A member who financially supports the chapter, but is currently unable to devote sufficient time to mentoring, tutoring and/or committee work. This form of membership is only granted by the executive committee of the chapter. |
Volunteer Member Serves only as mentor for one of the programs executed by the 100 Black Men of San Antonio. Application Fees are waived. Background Check must be completed. Participation hours reported to program coordinator. |
Honorary Members A person who has made “distinctive contributions” Honorary membership may be granted at the discretion of the Executive Board as a means of honoring outstanding supporters of the organization. |
The Membership Process
In order to become a member of the 100 Black Men of San Antonio, any interested person must first submit an application along with a criminal background check form. For full membership a nomination by a current financial member of the Chapter is required. The nominating member will endorse application submitted by interested individuals to the Membership Committee by the established deadline.
The deadline will vary depending upon the timing of the orientation session.
After the individual names have been submitted to the membership chairperson, the chairperson will contact the prospective member via a phone call, and then follow-up letter informing them of their nomination. The letter also will provide information regarding the next orientation session.

Prospective Members will be required to do the following:
- Submit a completed application with an application.
- All applicants must submit a letter of recommendation.
- Applicants should submit applications to the membership committee. Within 60 days of such submission, the membership committee will make recommendations through the Board of Directors to the membership. Within 30 days of such submission, the Board of Directors must determine its recommendation for approval to the membership for final determination. The membership shall elect new members only at specified meetings.
- After membership approval, membership is completed with the submission of the annual membership fee of $300.00.
